JobVerifier is designed to provide explainable job-scam risk indicators while limiting the collection and exposure of personal information.
Information processed for a verification
JobVerifier processes evidence that a user deliberately submits, including job or application URLs, recruiter messages, job descriptions, company details, recruiter details, and professional-profile URLs. The Chrome extension uses the activeTab and scripting permissions only after the user clicks Analyze current page. It reads a limited snapshot of visible job-page text, the page URL, job title, detected company name, and a visible application link. It does not run persistently, monitor browsing history, access cookies, or read credentials.
How verification information is used
Submitted evidence is transmitted securely to jobscamdetector.org solely to produce the requested analysis. Domain names may be checked using public DNS and domain-registration services. The submitted page text is processed for the verdict but is not stored in a shareable report.
Sanitized verification reports
A job-board verification creates a shareable report containing a random report identifier, platform, job title, detected company name, risk score, verdict, summary, source and application domains, and category-level checks and reasons. It does not include the submitted job description, recruiter message, email address, or other page text. The share link expires after 30 days.
Anonymous usage measurement
When a verification completes successfully, JobVerifier increments aggregate counters for total checks and whether the check came from the website or Chrome extension. These counters do not store names, email addresses, submitted evidence, job URLs, browsing history, or persistent user identifiers. Page visits and failed checks are not counted as completed verifications.
Anonymous verdict feedback
After a completed verification, users may optionally rate whether the result looked accurate, seemed too cautious, missed serious risk, was later confirmed legitimate or fraudulent, or remains uncertain. JobVerifier stores only the website or extension source, check type, broad risk band, verdict class, category-level signals, feedback choice, and submission date. It does not attach raw messages, URLs, names, email addresses, browsing history, or persistent user identifiers to feedback. Feedback is user-reported and is used to prioritize detection and scoring improvements.
Suspected scam reports
The separate Report a scam feature is optional and requires affirmative consent. Before storage, JobVerifier removes complete email addresses, phone numbers, government identifiers, financial numbers, and full links from the evidence. It retains the platform, suspected tactic, domain, recruiter email domain, redacted evidence, a one-way campaign fingerprint, payment-method category, occurrence count, moderation status, and report dates. Reports are not published as accusations. Public statistics show aggregate counts and approved category trends, not people, companies, domains, or raw messages.
Sharing, advertising, and sale
JobVerifier does not sell submitted information or use it for personalized advertising, credit decisions, or unrelated profiling. Hosting and network providers may process ordinary technical request data needed to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the service. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to investigate abuse or protect users.
User control
No extension analysis runs until the user clicks the analysis button. Users can edit or remove information before submission and should remove anything they do not want processed. A shared verification report becomes inaccessible through JobVerifier after its expiration date.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
JobVerifier’s use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Chrome API data is used only to provide or improve JobVerifier’s single user-facing purpose: analyzing job opportunities for explainable recruitment-scam risk indicators.
Security and policy changes
JobVerifier uses HTTPS, limits extension permissions, avoids persistent content scripts, and separates raw analysis input from sanitized reporting records. This policy will be updated before any material change to how information is collected, used, stored, or shared.
